Norway – back into the roots

Norway – back into the roots

After a pretty rocking and rolling 2018 in Latin America, Europe, USA, and various festivals in Denmark it was great to turn off the devices and get back into the roots of what brought us here.

My father is danish, I've lived in Copenhagen, or close by suburbs, my entire life, but my mother is Norwegian ( and very much so). 56 years in Denmark has hardly changed her accent (my old classmates were always terrified when she picked up the phone) and she kept the Norwegian heart and spirit intact as well.  This means that I've spent a tremendous amount of time in Norway partly known for a stunning and wild nature, with mountains, see, snow and rocks, whereas Denmark is more like a fine, nice kept garden.

Well, here I am with my rescheduled ticket for the second show for the O2 in London, of no use. A long time I go I booked the family vacation in Norway after the PJ Europe tour was over, but there you go. While all you are rocking out in the free World (or however we should label the state of the Union(s) at the moment) I'll likely be out swimming or fishing with all three, now grown up kids, in the ocean surrounding Bergen. I'll think of you.

Berlin

Berlin

Some emotional summer days later; here's basically what happened from my telescope. Girlfriend Hanne is joining me, for what's for her is not only her Pearl Jam debut, but also the very first time she visits the capital of Germany; Berlin one of the most remarkable and important cities in modern european history, as well as artistic and musical subculture, In short neither Berlin nor Pearl Jam did disappoint.

Tonight's show is in Krakow, Poland. Never been there, heard is should be a beautiful city, but I know the Polish fans are wild and passionate. At the book reception of the Danish version in November 2016, I ran into Katarzyna Bobrowicz, who is certainly a wild and passionate fan. She's pregnant now, so I don't even know if she'll make the show.

This is not directly related to the tour, but a story I'd like to share, and a story that comes to mind, being around so many passionate people on the European tour. I mostly hear, warm, great, loving and wild stories, about how this band has played a significant, positive and game-changing part of som many different peoples life, but also stories that relates to some of the toughest challenges we all face in life. Pearl Jam’s history, songs and words covers the full plate; life as well as death.

London did call ...

London did call ...

And what a voice yesterday. Had the greatest day. Dead early flight from Copenhagen. I made it, slightly shivering when actually sat in the seat, no more comments on that (oouuch). Get out of that door in good time, you big … !

Made it to the Wishlist Foundation party, at around 1.00 pm. A truly spectacular venue, right next to the Thames, directly opposite of the O2. Huge, classic, Britain at its best.

Hope To Meet You In London

Hope To Meet You In London

Hi everybody out there having fun, enjoying this great European summer, topped with World Cup Football, and definitely PJ Europe.

I'm psyched to see what the Seattle Fab Five (well six on stage) has up their sleeves, when I'm on for both nights at O2 in London this upcoming week. But equally excited to meet lots of old and new friends out there.

So many of you have been extremely supportive of my book, and most importantly; your comments, activities and actions, have been very parallel to the underlying feelings and vibe, I tried to catch in the book, in line with how I've experienced the core of Pearl Jam’s music, actions, spirit and soul.
