Things are seriously cooking (as well as melting) in the World of Pearl Jam these days. First album in years and now the sad, disappointing, but also responsible and reasonable postponement of the North American Tour.
I've had the privilege of listening to Gigaton for some time, and will do some warm up stories related to the album up until the release the 27th of March.
But first I have to rewind a few years back to South America. I'm flattered to see that my first book on the band 'Tras la huella de Pearl Jam' is included on the list 'Cult books: the best biographies and memoirs of musicians'. Published two years ago (didn't know until now) by the Chilean newspaper La Tercera.
Roughly translated the list is described as 'True manuals for all aspiring music writers and writers', and among the words about 'Tras la Huella is says:
Henrik Tuxen play a key role connecting the families of the victims with the members of Pearl Jam, in a gesture full of affection, humanity and respect for the fans and their loved ones, who are devastated by the pain.
Very grateful to make such a list which includes musicbook milestones as Anthony Kiedis 'Scar Tissue' and Keith Richards 'Life'.
Brings back so many amazing memories from my (until now) four times in Chile and Argentina since the original release in November 2015. So much love, friendship, craziness, fun, music, parties, drinks and emotions. A huge thank you to translator and financial supporter Veronica Bravo, publisher Luis Cruz, Piedra Negra Pearl Jam. (Chapter 20 + 21 in PEARL JAM The More You Need - The Lees You Get.)
Next will post will be more Gigaton related. Small cliffhanger is that Jeff Ament certainly has put his mark on this album.
